TOPPING A50S
Desktop Headphone Amplifier
With the A50s, Topping offers a high-quality headphone amplifier and preamp combination, integrating symmetrical and traditional connections. Its optimized circuits based on quality sound components allow for accurate, detailed and musical sound.
The A50s are also designed to be versatile, able to adapt to the vast majority of headphones and earbuds on the market.
The A50 focuses on an NFCA (Nested Feedback Composite Amplifier) module, identical to the module used in the brand's flagship A90. The hybrid current/voltage architecture associated with UHGF (Ultra High Gain Feedback) technology delivers excellent DC and AC performance. The high output current allows the amplifier to drive all types of headphones. The extremely low noise level of 0.3 μV, the dynamic range of 144 dB and the lack of background noise allow the A50s to easily feed even the most sensitive EMI's.
The A50 components are integrated into a solid aluminium frame with high-precision CNC machining. It is extremely robust and also provides excellent heat dissipation to effectively remove heat from the unit's power supply and AOP.
Although the A50s has only conventional inputs, it does have a symmetrical amplifier circuit. Therefore, it can be used with traditional headphones on the output of a 6.35mm jack, or with symmetrical headphones on the output of a 4.4mm Pentaconn jack.
The Topping amplifier offers 0dB or 6dB amplification in traditional mode and 6dB and 6dB and 12dB amplification in symmetrical mode. This setting is again extremely low, coupled with 0.3 μVrms noise, allowing the A50s to adapt to both sensitive EMI's and high-power headphones.
If the main function of the A50 is headphone amplification, then this is also a very good preamplifier with excellent performance. In preamp mode, the output impedance is only 20Ω, ensuring compatibility with many devices.
If the A50s are not connected to headphones or earphones, it automatically switches to preamplifier mode and the amplified signal comes through the RCA output of the rear panel. Conversely, if headphones are connected to the 6.35 or 4.4 mm jack output, the unit immediately switches to headphone amplifier function.
