Desktop DAC and Headphone Amplifier
The SMSL DO300EX digital-to-analog converter promises detailed and accurate sound reproduction with an AKM AK4191 + AK4499EX DAC chip pairing, as well as 32bit 768kHz DSD512 resolution and MQA-CD decoding through an XMOS XU-316 USB interface chip. Wireless Bluetooth 5 connectivity is provided by a QCC5125 chip, supporting aptX, aptX HD, and LDAC codecs.
Headphone amplification is handled by a TPA6120A2 chip, delivering 1W @ 32 Ohm power through 4.4mm and 6.35mm outputs, sufficient for driving most Hi-Fi headphones. In addition to single-ended RCA and balanced XLR outputs, AES/EBU, I2S, COAX, optical, Bluetooth, and USB-C inputs are also available. The front panel features a scratch-resistant color IPS display protected by tempered glass that is easy to read and can be turned off freely.
