Desktop CD Player and DAC with Headphone Amplification
For the past 30 years, Shanling's focus has been on CD players, ranging from affordable models to the high-end category. The EC3 is a compact yet powerful CD player, ideal for use in any desktop system, even when placed on top of a rack. It is built on the well-proven Philips CD80 drive mechanism and Sanyo HD850 laser head, and is a top-loading CD player with a transparent cover. It features digital outputs in the form of coaxial and optical SPDIF for easy connection to external DACs or receivers. It also includes its own audio circuit, utilizing an ESS ES9219C DAC and LTA8092 op-amp for the 3.5mm headphone output or via RCA, and can also be used as a preamplifier.
However, the EC3 is more than just a simple CD player. It uses the Ingenic X2000 platform and comes with a practical 1.6" screen that offers additional settings and functionalities directly on the player. It can serve as a Bluetooth DAC, or as a Hi-Res music player by connecting any USB drive, all controllable via Shanling's free Eddict Player application. The EC3 matches the size of the Shanling EM4 and EA5 streamers, and is available in black and silver. The package includes a remote control.
