Dorado 2020 - a true hybrid
Since 2016 – since the original release of Dorado – we have developed a remarkable series of high-fidelity hybrid IEMs that have been ranked among the best in the world.
Campfire Audio Dorado 2020 breathes new life into the name and its original legacy, with a new look of classic hybrid design. A vibrating tongue armature and a dynamic driver. No crossovers, no complications. We found that these distilled pairings reproduce sound more faithfully, with better resolution and better cohesion than those with overcomplicated crossing schemes.
The result is a detailed yet natural sound. They are resolving and emotionally engaging – a true hybrid of design and sonorous presentation.
Hi Hybrid
A single vibrating language armature complements the custom-tuned 10mm ADLC membrane dynamic driver. Leaving the glittery highs to the BA, this dynamic driver leaves room to dig a little deeper, reach a little lower, and deliver rich and satisfying bass. His voice image is precise and expressive. Dorado 2020 is a hybrid high-fidelity headset.
Ceramic zirconium - super sintering process
In 2015, Campfire Audio was the first company to introduce ceramic-bodied earphones with the original Lyra. With the help of the new Dorado and Vega, we are back to this excellent material.
Ceramics is a dense material. This is part of the appeal when designing the headset. The density is well suited for dynamic drives because it doesn't let the vibrations go wild. It is also an additional advantage of ownership, as it is extremely scratch resistant.
Our ceramic shells gain their strength through the sintering process. They spend two days at 600 degrees, then three days at 1200 degrees. This prolonged high heat effect dramatically reduces the size of the parts and, as a result, increases their density.
The mussels then spend no more than 3 days in a tub along with small alumina stone and water. This polishing process provides them with an attractive high-gloss surface.
With Campfire Audio Dorado 2020, we turned to a machined brass sound port with a "gunmetal gray" PVD coating. The conical shape and reduced diameter of the sound port provide additional tuning while improving wearing comfort. The super small, vibrating tongue armature is located in the center of the sound port, and its proximity to the exit in the right proportions provides an enhanced appearance.

Dorado's acoustic design shares a relatively simple philosophy with Vega; use the best possible components and let them shine. Like the Vega 2020, there is no crossover or other electronic clutter in the signal path that would compromise the drive's musical performance.
The hybrid IEM Dorado 2020 is unique from Vega in that it adds another component; a single high-frequency focused vibrating language armature. Dorado also uses a personalized dynamic driver – one that contains elements similar to its sibling in Vega.
