At the heart of the Gustard X18 D/A (digital to analogue) converter is the ESS ES9038PRO DAC chip, which handles the digital signal coming into the SPDIF and I2S inputs directly at the hardware level. Using a dedicated XMOS XU216 chip, it supports 32bit/768kHz PCM and DSD512 resolutions. Supports Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity, supports AAC, SBC, LDAC, aptX, aptX LL, aptX HD audio codecs. The CPLD programmable logic chip performs the logic control of the units and manages the clock signals, with DoP demodulation, PCM/DSD de-pop mode and similar exclusive technologies.
