Desktop DAC and Headphone Amplifier
The SMSL DO300EX digital-analog converter promises detailed and accurate sound reproduction with an AKM AK4191 + AK4499EX DAC chip pairing, as well as 32bit 768kHz DSD512 resolution and MQA-CD decoding via an XMOS XU-316 USB interface chip. The Bluetooth 5 wireless connection is handled by a QCC5125 chip, which also supports aptX, aptX HD, and LDAC codecs.
The headphone amplification is managed by a TPA6120A2 chip, offering 1W @ 32 Ohm power output through the 4.4mm and 6.35mm outputs, sufficient to drive most Hi-Fi headphones. Besides the single-ended RCA and balanced XLR outputs, it also features AES/EBU, I2S, COAX, optical, Bluetooth, and USB-C inputs. The front panel's tempered glass-protected colored IPS display is easy to read and can be freely turned off.
